Children of Bodom was a Finnish melodic death metal band from Espoo, formed in 1993 under the name Inearthed. The final lineup before their disbandment in 2019 consisted of vocalist and guitarist Alexi Laiho, drummer Jaska Raatikainen, bassist Henkka Seppälä, keyboardist Janne Wirman, and guitarist Daniel Freyberg. Over the course of their career, the band released ten studio albums, three live albums, two EPs, two compilation albums, and one DVD.

Their third studio album, "Follow the Reaper," was the first to receive a gold certification in Finland, with all subsequent studio albums achieving similar success. The next four albums debuted at number one on the Finnish album charts and also appeared on the United States Billboard 200. Children of Bodom became one of Finland’s best-selling music acts, with more than 250,000 records sold in the country.

In 2019, the band performed their final concert in Helsinki, titled "A Chapter Called Children of Bodom," after which they disbanded. In 2020, Laiho and Freyberg formed a new band, Bodom After Midnight. Alexi Laiho, a founding member and the primary songwriter of Children of Bodom, died in December 2020.
