Mummrah

Mummrah is a DIY band funded in Thessaloniki, late 2012, consisting of four people devoted to the anarchist movement in the broader sense, each with his own way of thinking and view. In early 2013 they started perfoming live and ever since they still support DIY organized places and squats. "Until now, our music can be categorized as hardcore/crust/post/punk/stοner, without us being sure about our future experimentations. Music cannot be static, new ideas and sounds are continuously added." in their own words. After using multiple places for practice, they now are parts of the DIY studio "Michani". Their decision to be parts of a DIY band is clearly political and goes along with their lifestyle, as much as possible they can. "This means that we are against any commercialization of our music, just as we are against in commercialization of our lives. It means that we are against music industry and terms like "artist", "copyrights", and any other similar term that are related to buying and selling. The nature of music is to be free and accessible to everyone. In addition, we choose to support and stand with DIY places and social centres and we are against live music stages and any place that a fee is required to enter, because we believe that these places promote class divide. Locales like squats are a project for unity and solidarity, anti-hierarchist and acts towards another world, free of authority and any relationship of power. Also, as we perceive ourselves as active political people who face exploitation in their everyday lives, we choose to be part of live performances that support financially comrade's fights as need be and we stand in solidarity in any unmediated act of the working class."
