Beschreibung

Michel Colombier (23 May 1939 – 14 November 2004) was a French composer, arranger, and conductor known for his work across film, television, and classical music.

Career Colombier composed scores for a variety of films and television productions, as well as chamber music and ballets. In collaboration with composer Pierre Henry, he created music for "Messe pour le temps présent," a work choreographed by Maurice Béjart and premiered in 1967.

In 1971, Colombier released the album "Wings" on A&M Records. The album featured the track "We Could Be Flying," with lead vocals by Lani Hall and lyrics by Paul Williams. The song was also included on Hall's solo debut album "Sun Down Lady," released in 1972.

Among Colombier's most personal works is the composition "Emmanuel," dedicated to the memory of his infant son. The piece was used by the French television channel Antenne 2 (now France 2) from 1975 to 1983 during its daily sign-on and sign-off sequences, accompanied by Jean-Michel Folon's animation "Les Hommes volants" (The Flying Men). "Emmanuel" also appeared on the cover of the 1977 re-release of "Wings."

Death Colombier died of cancer shortly after midnight on 14 November 2004. He is survived by his wife, Dana Colombier, and their two children. He was buried at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.
