Cimarrón

Cimarrón is a renowned Colombian musical group known for their festive dance music, joropo, which originates from the Llanos of Venezuela and Colombia. The band's music is a vibrant blend of Latin, Andalusian, Indigenous American, and African influences. They are recognized for incorporating a variety of instruments, including the cuatro, harp, maracas, and Peruvian-flamenco cajón, among others.

Founded in 2000 by singer Ana Veydó and harpist Carlos "Cuco" Rojas, Cimarrón has gained international acclaim and has been nominated for Grammy Awards. Their music reflects the diverse cultural heritage of the region, and they have performed at numerous international festivals and venues around the world.

Tragically, Carlos Cuco Rojas, the co-founder of the band, passed away in 2020, leaving Ana Veydó to lead the band. Despite this loss, Cimarrón continues to perform and promote their unique sound, highlighting the rich diversity of the Orinoco region .
