Nachtwache

The Nightwatcher seeks the beauty of eternal darkness. Dreaming of butterflies while marveling at moths. The Nightwatcher dreams of bright summer days while gazing into the dark, cloudy night sky. He longs for happy small talk at the market while patrolling and having weird self-talks. But when the sun begins to rise and the town awakens, he falls into a deep, unrestful sleep filled with nightmares. In the afternoon, shortly before his next shift is about to begin, he just wants to be alone. He doesn’t fit into the cheerful crowd. The Nightwatcher longs for the night during the day, and at night he misses the day. How dearly he wishes he could once again savor the scent of freshly cut grass.
