"Red Band" is an Israeli T.V show based on a street puppet show made by Ari Pepper (Heb."ארי פפר") called "Puppet Folk Revival". The Show tells the story of "Red Orbach" (Heb.רד אורבך) and his band (Pancho on the guitar and Lefty on keyboards (probably inspired by Willie Nelson's "Pancho and Lefty") whom were the next best thing in Israeli rock back in the 60's and then suddenly they've disappeared... now they're back and working on their big comeback show. In order to do that the band that recorded in 1969 the album that changed rock collaborate with Israel's top singers and bands in 2008 like Shalom Hanoch (who they know from back when..), Aviv Gefen, Tislam, Mosh Ben-Ari etc... Together with these artists and more they do cover versions for some of the 60's and 70's greatest hits like The Doors's People Are Strange (with Aviv Gefen), The Beatles' Blackbird (With Mosh Ben-Ari), Led Zeppelin's Black Dog (with the Nehama Girls) etc. What started as a simple street show became a successful T.V program and then reached a climax when when Deep Purple arrived at Israel and Red Band was chosen to perform as the warm-up band in Deep Purple's show in Tel-Aviv. Now the show's first season has ended and a CD of the covers performed on the show will soon be released. The show will no doubt have a second season that will produce much more great and interesting versions to well known songs with Israel's top artists alongside Red, Pancho, Lefty and of course the band's drug dealer Phillip the mouse.
