Phantom Hymn

Formed in ~2020, in Portland, Oregon, Phantom Hymn is an underground blackened crust outfit that merges the icy, atmospheric velocity of second-wave black metal with the raw, d-beat momentum of hardcore crust punk.

Emerging from the extreme music scene, the project crafts a bleak, feedback-drenched sonic landscape defined by razor-sharp tremolo riffs, relentless d-beat rhythm shifts, and venomous, raspy vocals. Stripping away overly polished production in favor of a visceral and unyielding sound, Phantom Hymn captures the desperate, apocalyptic energy of crust while channeling the grim, misanthropic aesthetic of classic black metal.

Lyrically centered on themes of existential dread, societal decay, spiritual ruin, and dark, anti-religious defiance, Phantom Hymn delivers a lean, targeted assault tailored for fans of Darkthrone, Martyrdöd, Iskra, and Young and in the Way.
