夢中夢

夢中夢 (romanized in Mutyumu, to be read Muchuumu, meaning "a dream within a dream") is a post-rock/future classical band from Japan, formed in 2002. They have been inactive since 2011.

History: This duo was formed in Osaka in 2002, centered around YD. The unit name comes from their desire to "express through music the feeling of the boundary between dreams and reality becoming blurred."

Their music primarily focuses on post-rock, blending classical, gothic, and dark genres like black metal. Describing their own style as "funeral classical," they gained popularity in the Kansai music scene through word of mouth, with phrases like "healing music from HELL!" and "black metal meets Joe Hisaishi." In 2006, they released their first album, "Muchu Yume," and in 2008, their second album, "Ilya". Since then, for 13 years up to the present day in 2021, they have not released any works. Originally a six-member band, for various reasons, it eventually transformed into a unit consisting of vocalist Hachisunot and the aforementioned guitarist and composer YD.

Hatis Noit has also been active in solo projects and other units (though they may have since left). It's unclear if there will be a next project, but there are signs that they are still active on social media.

They describe their own music as a mixture of post-rock, minimalism, classical, alternative, and heavy metal. They split up in 2010, stating on their official website "Someday, we'll be back". In 2011, only two remixes were released of tracks from their self-titled album as a tribute to the Tokyo March 11, 2011 earthquake and tsunami. On their album "イリヤ -il y a-", World's End Girlfriend, Hajime of ミドリ, and Robin from 赤犬 worked in collaboration with the band.
