Kocytus

In late 2022, vocalist Matheus Javali and guitarist João Pedro Oliveira decided to turn their passion for metal music into more than just admiration. Starting with just two members, they soon envisioned forming a band. After a few jam sessions, guitarist Heitor Mariotto joined, bringing the concept of "Cocytus" from Dante's "Divine Comedy," inspiring the band's name, Kocytus.

In early 2024, Matheus and João Pedro spent their last semester in high school writing and registering their ideas of original songs. With documents full of plans, lyrics, structures of songs and all of that, during school hours. It was also during this semester that talents such as bassist prodigy Caio Micheletti and drummer Rodrigo Moraes joined the trio, finally completing the lineup for the band.

By May 2024, Matheus and João Pedro had nearly completed the structure and registration of the album's songs, which ranged from heavy death metal-inspired riffs to melodic acoustic passages, reflecting the band’s influences like Opeth, Death, and Mastodon. From May to August, the band entered the studio to transform their creative ideas into professionally written and recorded tracks, acting together as a band. With producer Rafael Agostino as their mentor, they elevated their songwriting and production, blending beautifully arranged synths, keys, and strings with the heaviness of their metal compositions.
