Beschreibung
Die Form is a French post-industrial and electronic band formed in 1977. The name Die Form means “(the) form” or “shape” in German while also playing on the English word “deformed” and the French “difforme.”
Their music explores themes of eroticism and death, combining sound, imagery, and performance into a unified artistic vision. Over the years, they have developed a distinctive multimedia approach that blends music, live performance, photography, and film.
Since 1978, Die Form has participated in numerous international projects and produced around thirty albums, along with many video works, films, and two art books. Their style ranges from harsh industrial and organic electronic textures to neo-classical and experimental compositions, as well as more accessible, rhythm-driven pieces incorporating sampling, processed vocals, and sequenced elements.
Driven by artistic intensity, core members Philippe F. and Eliane P. explore themes of desire, beauty, and transgression, often pushing against the boundaries of what is considered acceptable.
Their work can be described as unconventional constructions in which mechanical elements are fused with the sensuality of female voices and melodic structures.
