Kanzaki Iori (カンザキイオリ), born March 11, 1997, and previously known as Kurogaki (黒柿), is a male vocal synth producer. Largely known for themes revolving around expressing adolescent emotions such as anxiety, conflict, anger, and love, his lyrics have successfully drawn listeners not only from Japan but also around the world. Many of his works also depict views on life and death, self-doubt, and a desire to rebel against society. The aforementioned themes are strongly reflected in his signature songs, one of which is "Hated by Life Itself" (命に嫌われている), which also happens to be the first of his works to have been inducted into the Vocaloid Hall of Fame. He made his Vocaloid debut on January 18, 2014, with "Rebellious Period", and since then, has gone on to create many songs, mostly using Hatsune Miku and the Kagamine twins. His particular style of presenting music videos draws from kinetic typography, a technical term for "moving text". On top of being a prolific vocal synth producer, he is also famous for having written most of the virtual singer KAF's original songs all the way since her debut in 2018 up until 2023. In 2021, he started his self-vocal activities, which eventually saw him covering many of his own Vocaloid songs as well as making original ones. On March 4, 2023, Kanzaki announced that he would be parting ways with Kamitsubaki Studio, a creative label he was a founding member of, and also one that KAF was (and still is) signed to, citing intensified guilt over earning money through his creative works and "living a comfortable life" impeding the process of pouring emotions into his creations. This would also effectively put an end to the partnership between Kanzaki and KAF, which had lasted for almost five years, with the two embarking on a brand-new journey of their own. Outside of music, he writes novels—a couple of them being based on his own songs, often sharing the same name.
